Palermo is a beautiful neighborhood to go for a walk. For this reason, I recommend staying in Palermo for your stay (especially if you plan on staying more than one week) in Buenos Aires.
If you like to walk when you travel then these 4 places are perfect to soak up the atmosphere of the city or unwind if you feel it is all too much.
If you are interested in street art you can book a guided tour here
1 – Japanese Gardens
The Japanese Gardens is one of the most beautiful parks in all of Buenos Aires.
You can find everything you might expect from a Japanese garden including cherry blossom trees and wooden arched bridges. You can also see some exhibitions and eat some delicious sushi in the restaurant.
Walking around the Japanese Gardens is one of the most relaxing things to do in Buenos Aires

2 – Palermo Forest (Bosques de Palermo)
Palermo Forest (“Bosques de Palermo” in Spanish) is a beautiful park situated to the north of Palermo. It is a great place for locals and tourists alike to go for a walk/run/rollerblade and you can even rent a paddleboat on a sunny day.
👉 Pro Tip!
Sundays are very busy in this park with locals so if you prefer a quieter walk, go during the week.
You can also find more than 15,000 roses in the rose garden “Rosedal” which are in full bloom in December and January.

3 – Ecoparque and Botanical Gardens
Right across the road from the Japanese Gardens, you can also go to the Ecoparque and Botanical gardens. The Ecoparque is a former zoo and has seen better days but the Botanic gardens are very beautiful.
The Botanical gardens are usually quiet so it can be a more relaxing walk than other parks and there is plenty of shade and places to sit down.
4 – Plaza Serrano
Plaza Serrano is almost like a hub of the Palermo district. I recommend strolling around the market stalls set up on the weekend.
You can also find plenty of bars and restaurants at night if you want to enjoy a hamburger or a craft beer.
Look out for the beautiful side streets around this are and find hidden gems like “el patio” and my favourite lane where you can drink tea in “Tealosophy”
