Things To Do in Buenos Aires Alone

If you are travelling alone you might want to find certain things to do that are suitable to do alone. It all depends on your mood really when you are alone as you might feel like being alone or you might be travelling alone and want to meet new people

Here is our list of things to do alone and things to do to meet other people when you are alone!

Things to do in Buenos Aires alone

1 Go for a walk in one of the many parks

I love going for a walk in Buenos Aires and there are so many parks to visit. There are the Japanese Gardens, Palermo forest, Botanic gardens, and many more. You can read more about the parks in Palermo in our walking guide here

In Recoleta there open-air markets at the weekends.

2 Street Art Walking Tour of Buenos Aires

There are so many beautiful street murals in Buenos Aires it can be a pleasure to just walk round the city and admire the art. You can also book a tour with a guide to find the best spots. Also look out for the buildings and my personal favourite is the doors to the buildings!

3 Check out the museums in Buenos Aires

There are so many museums in Buenos Aires to spend an afternoon alone appreciating art.

Our favourites include:

  • MALBA
  • The Larreta Museum (Museo Larreta)
  • Bellas Artes Museum

I didn’t really enjoy the Cabildo Museum as I prefer museums with beautiful paintings.

4 Go to a Jazz Club

If you don’t mind going to a concert alone there are plenty of live music venues in Buenos Aires and jazz fans are especially in for a treat. Most of the clubs are in Palermo and we went to the Bebop club where they did the Jazz standards.

Also, check out the Thelonius club and The Backroom Bar which have 2 shows per evening at the weekend.

5 Check out Palacio Barolo or Torre Monumental

This is for fans of Dante’s “Divine Comedy” and architecture, Palacio Barolo is a must. This office building is great to take a tour and see the amazing view from the top.

The building was designed by Mario Palanti and has 22 floors, each floor with a unique design. There is also a similar building in Uruguay called Palacio Salvo.

It is a good idea to pre-book your tickets around an hour before sunset so you can see the evening light over the city.

Torre Monumental” is a beautiful clock tower that was built by the British community in Buenos Aires. The tower is situated in front of the Retiro train station.

I also recommend that you visit the top of the balcony at sunset when you can get some beautiful views of the city.

Things to do to meet people when you are alone

1 Learn Spanish

Learning Spanish is a great thing to do in Buenos Aires. You will have an easier time communicating with locals but in person language classes are also a great way to meet other foreign people who want to integrate a bit more in Argentina.

2 Dance some Tango at a Milonga

Going to a Milonga in Buenos Aires can be a great place to see Tango in action and meet new people. There are a few Milongas in San Telmo where you can get involved(or just watch!).

The Milonga Placita del Pañuelo Blanco has folklore classes and live music and singing on Sundays on Plaza Dorrego.

If you can’t make Sunday, then try Maldita Milonga which takes place on Wednesdays from 9 pm and you can find more information here

3 Take an E-scooter tour

An E-scooter is a great way to see the city and can be a great way to meet people too. The tour takes place in the south of the city so it is perfect to find another bar/nightclub afterward. The tour takes 2 and a half hours and a drink is included.

You can book a tour here.

4 Join a pub crawl

A pub crawl is a great way to meet people and discover the nightlife of Buenos Aires at the same time! Why not do a pub crawl around Palermo and check out the bars and meet new people at the same time?  Two options you have are “Fiesta Bar Tour” and “Out in BA”.

5 Join a coworking

If you are working remotely then a coworking can be a great place to get some work done and also meet people.

The coworking I am at is called Selina and they also have social events every week if you want to learn more about Tango or go on a bar crawl with your coworkers.
