What is the Nicest Neighborhood in Buenos Aires?

Palermo, Recoleta and Belgrano are three of the nicest neighborhoods in Buenos Aires.

Palermo is quite a big neighborhood but there are some very nice parts including Palermo Hollywood and Palermo Chico. Recoleta is a smaller neighborhood and most of it is very nice. Belgrano also has some really nice areas like Chinatown, Cabildo Avenue, The Museum “Enrique Larreta”. “Castelli square” and Belgrano R area that has the most beautiful mansions in Buenos Aires downtown.

Palermo

Palermo is the largest district in Buenos Aires and is a great place to stay if you are interested in art, parks, and food! You won’t be disappointed with your stay in Palermo and I recommend staying here especially if you plan on staying 3 months in Buenos Aires.

There are actually many sub-districts to Palermo although two of the most popular to stay and visit as a foreigner are Palermo Soho and Palermo Hollywood. We have stayed in Palermo Chico and Palermo Soho and I have to say that I think Soho is the best place to stay here.

Try to stay near the Botanic gardens so you can go on a lovely walk and it is also very well located to catch the bus into the city center.

Recoleta

Recoleta is a very nice place to visit in Buenos Aires as it is in between Palermo and the city center. There are lovely parks and Museums and of course, the very famous Recoleta Cemetery which is a must-visit in Buenos Aires.

The architecture is one of the nicest things to see in Recoleta. You certainly get the feel of the Paris of the South in Recoleta and it is without a doubt one of the nicest neighborhoods in Buenos Aires.

If you are not staying in Recoleta, I recommend taking the hop-on hop-off bus as it passes through Recoleta and you can see the buildings up close from an open-top bus.

Belgrano

Belgrano is an upmarket neighborhood in the north of Buenos Aires. It is a good place to live or stay in Buenos Aires for a few months.  It is a good place to live as a remote worker as there is a lovely park and plenty of shopping.

The only downsides are that it is slightly further from the center than Palermo and has fewer tourist attractions than downtown.

There are some really nice areas in Belgrano and north of Belgrano on the way to Tigre. You will find all types of upmarket apartments and houses here.
